Internet Explorer infected

Internet Explorer has been infected by malicious software that allows hackers to take control of operators’ computers and access their passwords.

Microsoft has advised people to use alternate browsers such as Firefox, Opera or Safari. So far Microsoft has been unable to issue a patch. A Windows pc can become infected through the opening of any web page, and although the attack has been detected in IE versions 7 (the most commonly used), 5.01, 6 and 8 of IE, other versions are believed to be vulnerable against similar attacks. Microsoft has highlighted ways of configuring IE, such as disabling scripting or setting the internet zone security to ‘high’. However, administrators are advised to keep an eye on their servers and check logs for any suspicious activity.
