Infrared lighting used for face recognition system

A dual sensor face recognition system, which can work independently of lighting conditions by using infrared lighting, has been launched by Premier Electronics.

By using dsp technology, all processing is inside the unit so it can work uniquely as a stand alone – as well as networked – system. According to Premier, in the stand alone version, it will store 1400 users, works with spectacles and moustaches and recognition is under one second. It can store the audit trails on a usb drive that can hold 150,000 log entries and optional image capacity over 70,000. The IR system allows users the reader to be used in lighting conditions of 0-5000Lux. A 3.5in colour display shows position and voice prompts, with language selection and guides users into the correct position. The 200 x 95 x 115mm, low powered, 12V 500mA system is described as 'the most affordable facial recognition system on the market.'
