Infineon €198m investment could create 400 jobs

Infineon Technologies is investing approximately €198million in Austrian production capacity expansion and in research and development, creating 400 jobs in the course of this fiscal year.

The company's current workforce totals around 2500 employees, of whom about 900 are engaged in research and development. "The continued strong demand for our semiconductor solutions in the growth markets of energy efficiency, mobility and security calls for capacity expansion," said Dr Reinhard Ploss, pictured, member of the management board responsible for Operations, R&D and Labour director at Infineon Technologies. "The lion's share of the investment in Austria will go to chip development and manufacture for power engineering and automotive electronics."
