Imagination selects Bristol for new design centre

Imagination Technologies, has confirmed Bristol as the location for its latest PowerVR graphics and multimedia R&D facility.

According to the multimedia and communications IP company, the expansion is as a result of its success across IP technologies such as PowerVR graphics and video IP cores. 70% of Imagination's workforce are established in the UK based, while its global headquarters and many of its PowerVR R&D teams are based in Kings Langley. The company says Bristol was selected as a location due to the quality of experienced engineering talent in the area, combined with the strength of universities in the area. John Metcalfe, coo of Imagination, said: "Our new Bristol Design Centre provides opportunities for engineers based in the West Country to join Imagination in the development of our innovative and industry leading PowerVR graphics and related IP cores. We look forward to welcoming some of the brightest West Country based engineers, including graduates as well as experienced specialists, to the Imagination team, helping us to continue to extend our presence and leadership on the international stage." Imagination has appointed Saeid Azmoodeh to as director of engineering at the centre and is recruiting for engineers from graduate to highly experienced with skills in hardware, software, architecture and verification.
