Plastic Logic and ISORG have been presented with the IDTechEx Product Development award at the Printed Electronics Show in Berlin.

First announced in June last year, the flexible, transmissive sensor was created through the deposition of ISORG's organic printed photodetectors onto a plastic thin film transistor backplane developed by Plastic Logic. It weighs just 2.7g and is only 150µm thick. Commenting on the achievement, Plastic Logic ceo Indro Mukerjee, said: "This award confirms the real excitement and focus on technology breakthroughs to enable new ways to interact with consumer and industrial electronics devices. It nicely underpins our discussions with leading companies to enable them to develop volume applications." The sensor is expected to fund use in applications such as digital image sensing, including smart packaging and sensors for medical equipment and biomedical diagnostics, security and mobile commerce. Jean-Yves Gomez, ISORG ceo, commented: "We are very proud to receive such a prestigious international award. This collaboration demonstrates the versatility of organic electronics to combine two different technologies to create new and disruptive products for a range of markets."
