Freescale launches mcus to meet growing automotive processing needs

Said to meet the automotive industry's growing need for processing performance and integration, Freescale has announced the 32bit Qorivva microcontroller family. Based on the Power Architecture, the parts will be built on a 55nm non volatile memory process for improved power efficiency and cost effectiveness.

"Qorivva mcus are built on the industry's most powerful automotive architecture and offer exceptional scalability across hundreds of devices," said Reza Kazerounian, general manager of Freescale's microcontroller solutions group. "Our Qorivva product families range from simple, low cost, single core controllers up to the latest triple and quad core variants, providing increased performance, security and safety for the latest vehicle applications." The mcus feature configurable peripheral sets such as flexible timers and motor control systems, while digital signal processing capabilities provide additional functionality. Other features include: increased processing speeds, more on chip flash and ram, intelligent peripheral sets, improved embedded sensor interfaces, and high speed a/d converters. The Qorivva range is planned for availability in early 2012.
