Flash range optimised for ‘Higher performance’

Semiconductor foundry TSMC, has announced that its new embedded Flash range delivers 'higher performance in a smaller footprint' and 'better power efficiency than current offerings'.

The 0.18micron embedded Flash process technology range has been optimised to target analogue, power sensitive and automotive markets. The baseline 0.18micron 1.8 / 5V embedded Flash process supports enhanced analogue performance and traditional 5V I/O interface applications. The process features a single low voltage Flash IP that operates functions at 1.8V. TSMC's director, mainstream technology business, George Liu, said: "This extended feature rich 0.18micron embedded Flash family demonstrates the emphasis that TSMC places on serving the analogue, power sensitive and automotive markets. The breadth of applications that this family targets is unprecedented and reflects the growing market demand for technology that is both broad in scope, yet precise in its application." TSMC's 0.18micron process only seven mask layers to implement the embedded Flash features and is now ready for production.
