The UK's best hardware and software hackers are being invited to take part in Pi Hack, a 24 hour challenge aimed at demonstrating the true potential of Raspberry Pi.

Equipped with unlimited power, internet access, breakfast, dinner and snacks, 100 participants will be asked to test their coding and design skills and develop software or hardware using the credit card sized computer. Competitors can work individually or in teams of up to four and are free to solder and hack to their heart's content. Up for grabs for the best overall innovation is a personal tour of Sony UK's Raspberry Pi manufacturing facility in Wales, while category winners will be awarded from a roster of must have gadgets, including Philips full hd pocket camcorders, a Hubsan H107 Quadcopter, Logicom Spy tank, 7in Android tablet pc and Raspberry Pi plug and play kits. Categories include Best Hardware Hack, Best Software Hack, Best Game, Best Team and Best Individual. The 24 hour Pi Hack will be held at Munro House in Leeds between 1 and 2 December. The event starts at noon, with presentations at 2pm the next day. For more information visit http://cpc.farnell.com/pihack.
