Field labelling service helps address US market opportunities

TÜV SÜD Product Service has launched a Field Labelling service to help UK and European manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment export to the US more easily.

Field labelling is a mandatory requirement for most bespoke electrical and electronic equipment used in manufacturing or commercial sites in the US and premises that use uncertified equipment can be fined or shut down. Jean-Louis Evans, managing director of TÜV SÜD Product Service, said: "The US is a huge market for many European businesses, but the complexity and costs associated with gaining these specific approvals mean opportunities are not often fully exploited. "Our new service takes that pain away and delivers a simple, fast and cost effective option. European manufacturers can improve the marketability of their products and the control of their legal liability by ensuring compliance with the proper standards." The TÜV SÜD service, said to reduce complexity and cost, offers a combined local and US based service, as well as a next day option for time sensitive projects. TÜV's engineers visit the manufacturer to complete an initial evaluation of the equipment against compliance requirements. Once the equipment is installed in the US, TÜV's local engineers will complete the process, verifying the original evaluation report and confirming the installation is in accordance with the specific requirements.
