Under a new agreement, Farnell will stock and support the design in of Altera’s fpgas in Europe. The deal follows the recent signing of a similar agreement for the Asia Pacific region.

According to Farnell, this is the first time that Altera’s fpgas have been offered and supported by a multichannel distributor outside North America. Andy King, pictured left, president of Farnell Europe and global head of the company’s electronic design engineering segment, said: “The combination of local stock and local language support, plus online tools such as the fpga selector guide, will help speed and simplify the process of incorporating Altera’s devices into new designs.” Offering the full range of Altera devices, Farnell will also provide local language technical application support either online through ‘live chat’ or via telephone. It will also offer Altera development kits, Quartus II software and the Nios II embedded processor. “We believe Farnell will help us satisfy the needs of design engineers across Europe by allowing them fast access to Altera’s industry leading product and software portfolio,” said Michel Attias, managing director of Altera Europe.
