Express Logic expands AWS cloud support to include AWS Greengrass

Express Logic has announced turnkey integration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Greengrass software, extending the current direct X-Ware IoT Platform support for AWS.

Express Logic’s X-Ware IoT Platform is the industrial-grade alternative for AWS Greengrass customers who must quickly and easily develop devices and applications that connect to and are managed by AWS Services. The X-Ware IoT Platform was created entirely in house and designed from the ground up to be industrial grade.

“Cloud-networked IoT devices on the edge require reliable, safe, and secure connectivity all within a limited amount of memory and processing power,” said William E. Lamie, President, Express Logic. “By utilising the industrial-grade X-Ware IoT Platform, AWS Greengrass customers can for the first time easily build, deploy, and connect billions of devices with confidence.”

ThreadX features a 2kb instruction area and 1kb RAM minimal footprint. It also exercises submicrosecond context switching, yielding speeds on popular microprocessors that are significantly faster than most RTOSes on the market today, says Express Logic.

In addition, ThreadX provides embedded developers with priority-based pre-emptive scheduling, pre-emption-threshold scheduling, real-time event trace, downloadable memory-protected application modules, and full determinism, all accessible through an API.

For IoT network and cloud connectivity, the X-Ware IoT Platform leverages the small footprint and near wirespeed of Express Logic’s NetX Duo IPv4/IPv6 TCP/IP stack.NetX Duo has a small footprint of 9KB-15KB for basic IP and UDP support and typically achieves near-wirespeed data transfers on an 80MHz (or less) processor, while using fewer processor cycles than comparable stacks.

Moreover, NetX Duo provides embedded applications with core network protocols such as IPv4, IPv6, TCP, and UDP as well as a complete suite of higher-level add-on protocols.

ThreadX provides memory protection via the add-on ThreadX modules product while NetX Duo features a suite of industrial-grade add-ons including IPsec, SSTL, TLS, and DTLS.
