In a move to bolster innovation skills amongst UK based small to medium sized electronics companies, the Electronics KTN (EKTN) has launched the Innovation Management Academy.

Under the programme, 20 companies will be selected on the basis of their ability to benefit from the programme, as well as their commitment to it. In order to qualify, companies must demonstrate senior management support, as well as appointing a a senior ‘programme champion’ as a key point of contact. Companies must also commit to attending programme meetings, which will take place on one or two days per month, beginning in February 2009. According to EKTN chief executive Ashley Evans, pictured: “The Innovation Management Academy is designed to improve the participating companies’ capability to innovate, focusing on the wide array of skills, processes and techniques encountered through the route to generating revenue. The Academy will help you to turn ideas into profitable new products and services.” According to the EKTN, the Academy will deliver the opportunity and the tools to: • Better identify customer needs • Link innovation processes to business strategy • Manage your product portfolio • Understand how to take products to market • Engage and develop collaborative ventures. More information, along with an application form, is available on the Academy’s website.
