Chelmsford based e2v has been awarded a grant of £2.9million from Round Four of the Regional Growth Fund (RGF), administered by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS).

The project, which is expected to last five years, is part of an overall investment of £9m that will enable e2v to further develop its business in the radiotherapy marketplace. The company says it will develop and establish manufacturing and test processes as a part of its strategic plan to move from the supply of components into subsystems and services, in partnership with key customers. Keith Attwood, e2v's ceo, pictured, said: "This grant is a key contributor to the delivery of our strategic plan. We will be working with our oem partners to accelerate the development of class leading radiotherapy subsystems around our core RF Power capability, which will help secure high value UK jobs." Previously, e2v won a total of £10m in grants from rounds 1 and 3 of the RGF, applying the funding to microwave generator development and space imaging technology and service development.
