Embedded virtualisation software specialist OK Labs has announced its completed 2009 revenues are up from 2008 and deployment of its OKL4 software platform doubled despite the global economic recession.

OK Labs says that over the past 12 months, deployment of OKL4 doubled from 250million mobile handsets to over 500million mobile devices. OKL4 ships on a range of mobile smartphones such as the HTC G1 and G2, the HTC Hero, the Motorola Droid and the first commercially available, fully virtualised smartphone, the Motorola Evoke QA4. In 2009, the company secured over $7.6million in funding from venture capital firms Chrysalis Ventures and Neo Technology Ventures, as well as from Citrix Systems, a provider of virtualisation technologies. Steve Subar, OK Labs' president and ceo, said: "2009 was a remarkable year for OK Labs and for the mobile/wireless industry. We doubled deployments, expanded product offerings, and gained industry recognition for groundbreaking research. In 2010, OK Labs will continue its leadership in mobile virtualisation, building on our own investments and emerging partnerships with major players like Citrix and ST-Ericsson." According to Subar, the companies are working in tandem to build a combined OK Labs / ST-Ericsson platform in 2010.
