CAN transceivers offer improved robustness and increased efficiency

Based on Infineon's Smart Power technology, the new TLE7250 family of CAN transceivers is optimised for robustness and efficiency in automotive and network applications.

The 5V TLE7250G and the 3.3/5V TLE7250GVIO can withstand esd up to 8kV and feature a quiescent current of less than 15µA. The transceivers are optimised for passive behaviour when powered down and reduce the CAN bus leakage current to 5µA, making them suitable for mixed supply CAN networks. "Introducing the new High Speed CAN TLE7250 transceivers, we built on the success of the previous generation by providing improved robustness and energy efficiency, resulting in increased reliability and lower CO2 emissions on vehicle level," said Frank Schwertlein, general manager, standard power, of Infineon's automotive division. Compared to the previous generation, the new transceivers are said to offer improved immunity against EMI in frequencies ranging from 1MHz to 1GHz and reduced EME between 150kHz and 1GHz. Supporting data transmission rates up to 1Mbaud, Infineon says the TLE7250 family is ideal for large CAN networks due to its fail safe features, different operating modes and optimised output slew rates of the CANH and CANL signals.
