Buck regulators address multiple voltage rail requirements

1 min read

Suited to complex industrial and medical systems, Intersil's ISL85410 and ISL85418 synchronous buck regulators support a range of input and output voltages to address multiple voltage rail requirements.

The devices down-convert the DC voltage from a power supply or battery to power multiple microprocessors and board components – at various voltage requirements – to minimise power loss. Because they are pin-to-pin compatible, a single layout can be leveraged across multiple systems, accelerating time to market and reducing design cost. Colm Brazil, senior marketing manager for Intersil's industrial power group, said: "To address the increasing complexity of industrial system designs and the proliferation of voltage rails, the ISL8541X family of synchronous buck regulators delivers an integrated, reliable and easy to use solution that brings flexibility, a reduced component count and improved efficiency to power designs." The buck regulators support an input voltage range of 3 to 36V. They integrate both high side and low side FETs, eliminating the need for an inefficient low side diode. By also eliminating the need for external compensation, Intersil says BOM is reduced to just five external components.
