Asteel Group acquires MRP Electronics

The French Asteel Group of companies has acquired Bedford based contract electronics manufacturer, MRP Electronics.

Specialising in electronic and electromechanical subassembly manufacture, Asteel’s considerable buying power with distributors will enable MRP’s customers to benefit from greater support for prototype work, better costs for start up volumes and assistance with product design. “This acquisition could not have come at a better time as some of our larger customers were considering taking their high volume work to the Far East,” explained MRP’s managing director, Mike Perry. “Now they can keep their MRP contacts - even for high volume production.” The acquisition is said to provide Asteel with annual revenue in excess of $750m and a global manufacturing floor space of more than 1million ft². “Our selection of MRP was based on its manufacturing capabilities, its healthy attitude towards investing in the latest production and test systems, the company's reputation and its growth potential,” stated Georges Garic, Asteel’s development director. “MRP and Asteel’s management have very similar mindsets and approaches to business.”
