Agilent Technologies has announced the addition of two new oscilloscopes to its portfolio of handheld instruments. The 100MHz U1610A and 200MHz U1620A are its first handheld units to include a colour video graphics array (VGA) display.

Available from February 1, the instruments have up to three viewing modes (indoor, outdoor and night vision), designed to enable engineers to view signal waveforms by zooming in to capture glitches under all lighting conditions. According to Agilent, the scopes' outdoor viewing mode and 5.7in transflective display make it possible to read waveforms even in bright sunlight. Measurement capabilities include a sampling rate of 1 or 2 GSa/sec and two safety isolated input channels. Analysis capabilities include deep memory, 1000 times zooming, and dual zoom windows for overview and detailed displays. "The unique capabilities of these new handheld oscilloscopes bring greater confidence in analysing and viewing signal under many types of lighting conditions in a variety of industrial and electronics applications," said Ee Huei Sin, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Basic Instrument Division. "We are committed to create and deliver dependable, innovative tools that provide a wealth of features yet consistently remaining easy to use."
