ADI expands microwave ic portfolio

Analog Devices has unveiled a new family of microwave ics and a new PLL synthesiser, both of which are designed to offer industry leading phase noise performance to keep up with the increasing demands of a range of instrumentation and communication applications.

The new ADF55xx VCO series covers a frequency range from 3.5 to 13.9GHz and debuts with six devices. The ADF4153A PLL synthesiser, an upgrade to the ADF4153 fractional-N PLL, can phase lock signals up to 4GHz and, according to ADI, can greatly improve the system integrated phase noise when used with an external VCO. The company has also introduced an rf clock ic radio which it says offers a best in class high speed and low jitter combination to meet the demands of high speed data converters. The device is targeted at applications such as instrumentation and defence electronics where clean clock synthesis is required for data conversion operations in the GS/s range.
