Actel bought by analogue specialist in $430million deal

Analogue specialist Microsemi has bought fpga developer Actel in a $430million cash deal.
"We believe the addition of Actel will deliver compelling synergies to Microsemi," stated James Peterson, Microsemi's president and ceo. "Actel will bring the most widely used mixed signal, radiation tolerant fpga products in the aerospace and defence markets today and the company's products will allow Microsemi to extend its growing system level capabilities."

"The proposed acquisition of Actel by Microsemi will create a powerful combination," said John East, pictured, Actel's president and ceo. "I can think of no company more complementary and better equipped to take Actel's solutions to new heights." East announced his retirement as Actel's president and ceo in February 2010, but the search for his successor has been fruitless.
