Multicore Challenge

1 min read

Now in its fifth year, the Multicore Challenge conference embraces the challenges and opportunities in building products based on multiple cores; from embedded industrial/consumer products and PC applications to mobile phones and high performance compute clusters.

Taking place on 23 September 2014 in Bristol, the event will offer a high calibre of speakers and tool demonstrations. Conference keynote speakers will be from companies developing multicore hardware platforms, tools and applications. Jim Whittaker, EVP MIPS at Imagination Technologies will consider how Imagination is to develop the recently acquired MIPS platform, while industry expert Simon Knowles, who recently joined Bristol-based XMOS will discuss new applications for XMOS technology. This year's conference covers three main themes of multicore: architectures, languages and multicore for mobile. Steve Felix of Nvidia will chair the mobile track with speakers from Qualcomm, Imagination and local-area start up Blu Wireless. Professor David May and Simon McIntosh-Smith of Bristol University will lead the themes and tracks on architectures and languages respectively. The Multicore Challenge conference is practical in nature, being underlined by tool demonstrations where delegates are able to attend three 30 minute demos from a variety of vendors, including Allinea Software, Codeplay, Gamebench, Lauterbach, Rapita Systems, ZenoTech, XMOS and ARM. Attendance is free but places are limited. To find out more, go to http://www.testandverification.com/conferences/multicore-challenge/multicore-challenge-2014/
