Who is the mystery player paying FinFET royalties to ARM?

Divining the identity of the mystery player paying royalties to ARM from a device made on a leading edge FinFET process may not be as easy as it sounds.

According to Synopsys, 20 companies have completed more than 100 tapeouts of FinFET based chips – some are already in production – using its Galaxy Design platform. Other companies will be using Cadence and Mentor tools. Foundries offering FinFET processes include Samsung, Intel and Globalfoundries.

But wouldn't it be ironic if the customer was Altera, whose Stratix 10 FPGA – with a quad core Cortex-A53 – is being fabbed by Intel on its 14nm process?
