My mobile was eaten by a horse …

UK households have, apparently, spent more than £3billion fixing or replacing broken gadgets in the last five years, according to a recent survey. And it’s more likely that a significant chunk of that £3bn was spent of replacing, rather than fixing.

Amongst the survey’s findings are that 8million mobile phones were damaged in the last five years, while 5.3m laptops and PCs and 4.1m cameras have also suffered at the hands of what the survey calls ‘their uncoordinated owners’.

Water damage is the greatest problem, says the survey – conducted on behalf of TSB Insurance – accounting for 23% of mobile phone and 7% of laptop claims. However, one claim for a lost phone stood out: it was eaten by a horse …
