Do you want it to be easy to set up audio equipment?

Audio is one of those personal things. Some people need valve amplifiers, large speakers and the most expensive turntable you can get your hands on. At the other end of the scale are people who are happy with an MP3 player and an underperforming pair of earbuds. The rest of us sit somewhere in between the two extremes.

CSR has tried to find out more about the audio market in a recent survey of 2000 consumers who have a smartphone, Wi-Fi at home and who listen to music at least once a week. Many of the findings are no sruprise. For example, 76% of listeners have streamed music at home in past month and 75% have played MP3s and music downloads. More than 60% think that, in five years' time, everyone will be streaming their music from the internet and that CDs, vinyl and MP3 files will be obsolete. And, despite the growth in streaming, 76% of respondents say CDs are their favourite format. But here's an interesting stat: of those surveyed, 69% want their audio technology to be easy to set up. What, you wonder, does the other 31% want?
