New Series of integrated CAN and CAN FD transceivers simplifies design

Available from leading UK Power Conversion distributor PowerPax, Mornsuns’ TD301MCAN/TD501MCAN and TD301MCANFD/TD501MCANFD CAN transceiver modules combine the CAN transceiver, signal isolation and bus protection in a compact package measuring 12.7 x 10.16 x 8.2mm. This integrated solution simplifies system design and makes for ease of application.

The TD301MCAN/TD501MAN modules meet the ISO 11898-2 physical layer standard and work with baud rates in the range of 40K – 1Mbps.

TheTD301MCANFD/TD501MCANFD modules meetISO 11898-5 physical layer standard and are specifically designed to work with the CAN FD protocol which combines CAN’s core features with a higher bandwidth and data rates up to 5Mbps. All modules feature Bus timeout protection and will work with CAN Bus networks with up to 110 nodes.

These transceivers are available with inputs of either 3.3V (3.15 – 3.45V DC) or 5V (4.75 – 5.25V DC) and feature two port isolation of 2.5KVDC. They are suitable for both 12V and 24V systems and have a maximum bus voltage of ±58V.

This range of transceivers are provided in a standard DIP8 package which is a flame-retardant and heat resistant plastic case (UL94 V-0). The ultra-small package makes this series of products particularly suited for modern compact systems that specifically require compact components with excellent operating characteristics. The two series are provided in the same, pin compatible, package which adds convenience in design. The appropriate transceiver can be selected depending on the system’s communication protocol.

The cost effective transceivers are suited to many CAN bus applications including motor drive control, smart meters, industrial machinery, vehicle control systems, building automation, medical systems, marine control and navigation, elevator systems and aerospace.
