The 1N8149 to 1N8182 and 1N8149US to 1N8182US surface mount low capacitance TVS diode products are available as 150W peak pulse power with capacitance of 4pF maximum. The diodes are offered in voltages ranging from 6.8 to 170V. Higher power ratings of 500W with low capacitance are claimed to be in development for even higher transient threats.
Microsemi's TVS diodes are said to provide aircraft and other electrical systems with critical protection by going into avalanche breakdown within nanoseconds after a strike, clamping the transient voltage and routing its current to the ground.
These TVS products are also suited for use in engine control units and actuator controls, as well as a variety of power distribution, environmental control, communications and instrumentation systems. They are also available in leaded packages for thru-hole mounting.
