RS Components has signed a global agreement with Intel under which it will distribute its computing and embedded development products. Amongst the Intel or Intel based products available from RS are the Edison development platform and the Compute Stick, as well as various devices featuring Atom processor based single board computers and a range of solid state drives with capacities of up to 1.6Tbyte.

“Intel is a global technology leader and an increasingly important player in embedded development technologies,” said Fred Knowles, RS’ VP of product management. “This new global distribution agreement means that Intel technologies are now easily available at the touch of button via the RS website for fast delivery from our global warehouses.”

The Edison platform includes the Edison compute module, the Edison breakout board for rapid prototyping and the Edison board for Arduino. The Edison module, said to be product ready, features a 22nm SoC including a dual core, dual threaded Atom CPU running at 500MHz and a 100MHz 32bit Quark microcontroller. It also features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Smart connectivity, along with device to device and device to cloud connectivity.

Rod O’Shea, Intel’s general manager, EMEA, direct and channel sales, added: “Empowering innovators, makers and entrepreneurs is a priority for Intel and enabling easy access to these technologies is an important step.”
