Digi-Key Electronics, the electronic components distributor, and Student Circuit, an online resource for anyone undertaking further education within the world of electronics, have announced a competition to win 10 SNAPTAIN drones and one InstaLab Kit at 10 universities during this year's Freshers Week events running from 10 Sept. – 2 Oct, 2019.

U.K. university students will be able to enter the competition, and other Digi-Key giveaways, at one of the university events at Digi-Key & Student Circuit’s booth or via the Student Circuit competition page.

The InstaLab award competition reflects Digi-Key’s continued commitment to students and makers worldwide, supporting innovation with over 10,000 boards and modules to assist in any student’s design or project, a wide variety of online resources, conversion calculators, how-to articles and videos, datasheets, multimedia libraries, and more.

The InstaLab Kit donated by Digi-Key is a mobile laboratory featuring a wide range of tools and devices for experiments, designed as a means to shape a dorm room into a space for a maker and/or student with everything needed to measure, observe, design, and make electronics ideas a reality. Student Circuit is also partnering with Digi-Key to give away 10 SNAPTAIN S5C drones featuring a 720P HD camera, voice control and a gesture control RC quadcopter.

Digi-Key & Student Circuit will be exhibiting during Freshers Week events at universities across the U.K., where more than 113,000 students attending the top U.K. electronic engineering universities are expected to convene this year. Student attendees will have the opportunity to learn about Digi-Key’s electronic component offerings, as well as the extensive services Digi-Key has designed to support makers. They will also be invited to receive engineering tools by subscribing for the Student Circuit newsletter.

Maintaining a dedicated presence at engineering industry events is just one way that Digi-Key looks to support students and makers worldwide. The company also offers a dedicated academic program; a Maker.IO featuring tools, resources, and support for engineers to bring their projects to life; and free tools like IoT Studio and Scheme-It to help with course development and projects.

Digi-Key also offers students and makers the ability to search on the company’s website with parameters, making it easier for customers to locate and order the products they need.

"Digi-Key's partnership with Student Circuit to sponsor these Freshers Week events demonstrates what continues to be the heart and soul of our company: supplying innovation for the next generation of engineers and makers," said Ian Wallace, Director, EMEA business development at Digi-Key. "With more than 8 million electronic components in-stock ready to ship immediately, Digi-Key is proud to support thousands of innovative makers in the U.K. and around the world.”
