electronica - Future adds Murata RF module to LoRaWAN-compliant range

A Murata RF transceiver module has been added to Future Electronics’ line up of products supporting low power wireless area networking (LPWAN) applications.

According to the company, the CMWX1ZZABZ-078 module is suitable for designers of IoT edge nodes, portable devices and remote monitoring systems. This is because Murata has supposedly packed a complete LPWAN system into the 12.5 x 11.6 x 1.76mm package, including the Semtech SX1276 RF transceiver, an STM32L0 MCU with an ARM Cortex-M0+ core, a TCXO clock, an SPI/I2C/UART/ADC interface, and up to 16 GPIOs.

The embedded MCU in the module has sufficient capacity to run the LoRaWAN networking protocol, as well as customer applications, so there is no need for an external host MCU.
