Smart audio platform offers greater flexibility

Looking to meet the needs of those developing smart and networked speakers, Qualcomm Technologies has launched the Smart Audio Platform. The solution includes two SoC options, together with a range of software configurations that will allow OEMs to create a variety of devices.

According to Anthony Murray, general manager, voice and music, with Qualcomm Technologies, the solution offers: “A great degree of flexibility for those manufacturers who want to push the boundaries when it comes to possible future applications for smart speakers.”

Alongside advanced multi-mic far-field voice capability, the platform features voice activation and beamforming technologies. The software incorporates echo-cancellation, noise suppression and ‘barge-in’ features.

Qualcomm’s aptX HD audio technology, designed to deliver 24bit high-definition wireless audio over Bluetooth, is also included.
