Latest DAVE development platform is faster and more re-usable

The latest version of Infineon Technologies' development platform DAVE, the 'Digital Application Virtual Engineer', has been launched for its XMC1000 and XMC4000 32bit microcontroller series.

Infineon says development time is reduced by the use of efficient component-based software development on the DAVE platform.

The re-usability is also enhanced, for example, with the introduction of the XMC Lib, which feature reusable software components that provide users with abstracted programming interfaces.

Users can program the XMC MCUs and their peripherals supported via a graphical user interface without having to concern themselves with the underlying hardware details. One key feature of DAVE and the DAVE APPs is the 'resource solver' for the efficient and conflict free management of the available hardware resources.

This latest release of DAVE is said to be a complete development platform, with an Eclipse-based integrated development environment, a GNU compiler and a debugger with an inclusive flash Loader. The data models for the configuration and resource data have been improved and designed more robustly, which Infineon says allows numerous functions to run faster.

The production version of the beta DAVE platform is scheduled for launch in July 2015.
