Digia offers upgraded route to software development

Digia announced a major upgrade to its Qt Enterprise Embedded solution at Embedded World. The package gives engineers a route into software development for embedded devices and the upgrade allows further customisation to suit the user's needs and application.

Chief technology officer Lars Knoll said of the new solution: "It is bigger than the standard QT and includes features such as virtual keyboard and android video support."

The major update to Qt Enterprise Embedded provides developers targeting embedded Linux the flexibility to take their prototype quickly into production by simply building their own stack using the Yocto Project tooling with an included selection of Qt-optimised recipes. Developers will also notice several improvements to the emulator making productivity and performance key.

First, the built-in emulator has received a significant update where it now utilises native graphics acceleration on the host computer allowing applications to run at least as fast on the emulator as on the real device. Also, sensor emulation is now supported enabling developers to easily test how their application reacts to various sensor inputs.
