New Generation of Fixed Input DC/DC Converters Offer Better Performance and Higher Reliability.

Global power conversion manufacturer Mornsun announces the launch of the R3 series of 0.75 – 1 watt single and dual output, fixed input DC/DC converters.
Following extensive research, development and innovation these converters use a modern integrated circuit approach to provide more consistent performance, better reliability and eradication of issues seen in traditional designs.

The improvements in design significantly enhance their capabilities and scope of application.

These converters are currently available with an input voltage of 5V DC, input voltages of 12, 15 and 24V DC will be available soon. They are provided with single outputs of 3.3 - 24V DC and dual outputs of ±5 - ±15V DC. They are available in regulated (single output) and non-regulated (single and dual output) versions.

All models feature continuous, self-recovering, short circuit protection and input to output isolation of 1500V DC or 3000V DC. Full load efficiency of up to 85% and low load efficiency up to 75% ensures minimal heat rise within circuits and excellent low load power consumption.

The change in design philosophy has increased the maximum capacitive load capability significantly. These converters are able to start up in constant current mode thereby solving traditional design issues relating to the contradiction between output short circuit protection and capacitive load capacity.

The series features an industrial operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C for regulated devices and -40°C to +105°C for non-regulated devices. They meet the latest safety requirements and comply with EN62368 and UL62368.

The R3 series have a reduced component count and use innovative construction and manufacturing techniques to provides increased reliability, MTBF is 3500K hours minimum. These converters have UL94-V0 rated packages and are available in industry standard SMD, SIP and DIP pin-outs. This ensures excellent compatibility with previous models and means that PCB updates are not required when replacing older variants.

These new converters offer a robust, high quality, cost-effective solution for new and existing designs and are available on a short lead time due to excellent stock availability. They are suitable for a wide range of applications.
