Don’t get your fingers burnt!

Silicon temperature sensors protect your system. By Uwe Kopp.

Two issues force system designers to think more and more about their temperature budget. One is that cost and size of pcbs and enclosures have to be reduced. The other factor is ever higher performance. These trends raise the temperature inside enclosures, potentially impacting reliability and functionality of the whole design.

Several strategies have evolved to ensure more reliable performance and one key protection element is the temperature sensing device.
