Second generation LiFi-integrated lighting

Technology company, pureLiFi, has provided its LiFi technology for a range of LiFi-integrated lighting products that will extend to panel lights and other commercial form factors, allowing for more flexible deployments.

The product has been launched by French company Lucibel, a designer and manufacturer of next-generation lighting products and solutions based on LED technology.

This is the second generation of Lucibel LiFi luminaire products, which enables internet access through light emitted from the light cone, based on pureLiFi technology. This new generation product looks to significantly advances form factor and ease of use and offers a boost in internet speed of 54 Mbps compared with 42 Mbps for the first generation.

Other improved features include an increase in the number of users simultaneously able to benefit from a secure connection.

The product design of this second generation has been revised by Lucibel to allow a better integration of the 'Lighting' and 'Connectivity' functionalities. In addition, Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology, which eliminates the need for an electrical cable, is now integrated natively in LiFi luminaires.

Commenting Alistair Banham, CEO of pureLiFi, said: “We have achieved a more efficient, 30% faster LiFi module with easy integration into Lucibel’s design. The result is a product that is more viable than ever as a solution to provide internet access through light.”

Frédéric Granotier, founder and CEO of Lucibel, said: “With the launch of this second generation, Lucibel continues to pioneer LiFi lighting products. With the significant advancements of this new solution, and a base of more than 100 customers who have validated the first generation, we are confident of rolling out this new product more widely.”
