ARC signs new deal with Intel

ARC has signed a new multiyear royalty bearing licensing agreement with Intel. The agreement, which covers several ARC products, was completed in the second half of 2007.

According to ARC, the deal brings key benefits to Intel’s SoC developers, including the ability to reduce power consumption and increase a chipset’s performance by adding custom instruction extensions.
Carl Schlachte, ARC’s president and ceo, pictured, said: “This is a landmark announcement for ARC. We are honoured by Intel’s adoption of the company’s configurable products.”
Jim McGregor, In-Stat’s principal analyst and research director for enabling technologies, said: “By combining ARC processor based wireless broadband solutions with low power x86 processors, Intel is underscoring its commitment to achieving flexible and power efficient solutions through heterogeneous multicore platforms.”
