  • WorldSkills London 2011, 100,000 visitors already registered

The organisers of WorldSkills London 2011 have announced that more than 100,000 visitors have already registered to attend the event, with 10 weeks still to go.

More than 1000 competitors from across the globe will take part in the four day competition at ExCel, London from 5 to 8 October and the event looks to set to be the largest yet with 90,000m2 of space having been booked.

Team UK has 43 competitors, currently in the final phase of training in skill categories such as electronics, mechatronics and robotics. Visitors to the competition will be encouraged to 'Have a Go' at dozens of different skills and receive personal and impartial careers advice on hundreds of different careers.

Aidan Jones, executive director of WorldSkills London 2011 said he was pleased with the high number of registrations: 'WorldSkills London 2011 is a fantastic opportunity to see highly skilled young people competing to be the best in their field. This will be the biggest event in London before the 2012 Olympics and we are working hard to ensure that London is the biggest and best WorldSkills yet."
