SBC for ‘demanding’ applications

Designed for demanding high performance embedded computing applications, a rugged 3U VPX single board computer from Abaco Systems features devices from Intel’s Xeon Processor D-1500 family. According to the supplier, the SBC347D will be available in versions that offer support up to 16 cores.

This higher level of integration is said by the company to provide more board space, in turn enabling the SBC347D to support twice as much memory as the Core i7 based SBC347A. The SBC347D features up to 32Gbyte of DDR4 ECC memory operating at up to 2MHZ; 32Gbyte of NAND flash; 32Mbyte of BIOS flash; and 16Mbyte of BIOS backup flash.

Abaco says a particular feature is the ability for customers to implement their security and information assurance strategies via a secure FPGA that protects against differential power analysis and single event upsets, as well as providing a range of tamper detect, encryption and zeroisation features.

The SBC347D is designed to offer maximum PCIe bandwidth, with a total of 20 PCIe lanes (x4 and x16 ports) across the P1 and P2 connectors. The x16 link is said by Abaco to be ideal for connection to high performance GPGPU modules.
