Modules feature Intel processors

Five modules based on Intel’s latest processor technology have been launched by Avnet Embedded. Manufactured by MSC Technologies, the modules will feature Atom, Pentium and Celeron processors in two COM Express format (Compact Type 6 and Mini Type 10), one Qseven module and two SMARC products.

Kintex based board added to PC/104 format family

Sundance Multiprocessor Technology has added the EMC2-KU35 to its EMC2 family of embedded boards. Featuring a Xilinx Kintex UltraScale FPGA, the KU-35 boasts a VITA57.1 FMC LPC connector, which the company says offers ‘extra possibilities and expansion options’.

SimpleLink Wi-Fi modules simplify IoT connectivity

Murata has announced a series of two 2.4GHz IEEE802.11 b/g/n compliant wireless modules based around the TI CC3200 and TI CC3100 SimpleLink chipsets. These miniature modules, measuring 13.2 x 21.45 x 2.65mm are claimed to ease incorporating wireless internet connectivity to a host of embedded applications and especially internet of things (IoT) designs.

PCB package moves to v16.1

Altium has updated its PCB design platform to version 16.1. The update is said to add features that enhance design documentation and high speed design workflows.

New 3D MID prototyping service

Beta LAYOUT, a PCB-POOL services specialist, is now using 3D printing to produce prototype plastic circuit carriers, which can then be coated with a special varnish.

ITX format board is ‘ideal base’ for scalable system

A compact embedded computing platform from Adlink features 6th generation Intel Core i7/i5/i3 processors and Intel’s Q170/H110 chipsets. According to the supplier, the AmITX-SL-G is a space saving, entry level embedded board with higher processing speeds and faster graphics rendering. The board can also support up to 32Gbyte of dual channel non ECC DDR4 memory at 1867MHz.

Libero SoC v11.7 increases security, usability and efficiency for FPGA designs

Microsemi has released version 11.7 of its Libero system-on-chip (SoC), a suite of FPGA design tools used with the company’s FPGA products. The release includes a number of new features to enhance ease-of-use and efficiency for designers, as well as security and evaluation tools, for its RTG4 FPGAs, SmartFusion2 SoC FPGAs and IGLOO2 FPGAs, speeding time to market for designers.

Mini-ITX board features quadcore AMD G-series SoC

Fujitsu has expanded its Mini-ITX board family with the D3313-S6, which features the quadcore AMD G-Series SoC running at 2.4GHz. According to the company, the board is suitable for use in areas such as digital signage and medical technology.

SoM features UltraScale MPSoC

The TE0808 UltraSoM+ from Trenz Electronic is an industrial grade system on module said to deliver the performance required by next generation embedded systems.

DFT extension for Altium Designer

Boundary scan technology specialist XJTAG has announced the DFT Assistant for Altium Designer, a free software extension said to increase the design for test (DFT) capabilities of the PCB design system.

SBC for ‘demanding’ applications

Designed for demanding high performance embedded computing applications, a rugged 3U VPX single board computer from Abaco Systems features devices from Intel’s Xeon Processor D-1500 family. According to the supplier, the SBC347D will be available in versions that offer support up to 16 cores.

First integrated amplifier and balun in one package

Integrated Device Technology (IDT) has introduced a broadband differential input RF amplifier that is claimed to simplify designs for transmitters utilising RF digital-to-analogue converters and/or integrated transceivers used in base stations and public safety infrastructure.

Infineon’s µHVIC range for flexible PCB layouts

Infineon Technologies has expanded its µHVIC range of integrated circuits (ICs) for high and low voltage. The single channel low-side drivers IR44252L, IR44272L, and IR44273L are claimed to enable robust and cost effective design solutions. The range is said to utilise Infineon’s high voltage junction isolation technology to execute multiple functions and integrate protection features. The driver ICs are available in a 5-lead SOT23 and are compatible with other µHVIC parts.

Analogue front end reference design

As high resolution systems move to higher bit counts, they become more sensitive to noise, making such systems difficult to build and maintain accuracy. Looking to overcome the challenges, Maxim Integrated has launched the MAXREFDES67, a 24bit analogue front end reference design that can accept four signals.

Improved performance and efficiency

ARBOR Technology has released the ITX-i89H0, a Mini-ITX industrial motherboard based on the Intel CM236 Platform Control Hub and soldered onboard Intel Xeon E3-1505L v5 processor, manufactured on 14nm process technology with 2nd Generation 3-D Tri-Gate transistors.

Simplifying GaN transistor circuit design

GaN Systems has announced its GS66508T-EVBHB Half-Bridge Evaluation Board which demonstrates the performance of its GaN enhancement mode power semiconductors in real power circuits. The GS66508T-EVBHB Eval Board can be configured into any half bridge-based topology.

Motherboard for mass market applications

An industrial grade ATX format motherboard from Advantech features the 4th generation Intel Core processor. The SIMB-A31 is said to offer designers a cost effective solution for mass market applications.
