Industry’s first PXI express DMM for more accurate, smarter test systems

National Instruments (NI) has released the NI PXIe-4081 7½-digit high-performance Digital Multimeter (DMM) and 1.8MS/s isolated digitiser. The NI PXIe-4081 is said to offer engineers the flexibility, resolution and isolation needed to tackle challenging applications that require smarter test systems in industries ranging from consumer electronics to aerospace and defence.

HMI Panel for remote monitoring, data acquisition and control

Arbor has released the IOT-500, an HMI panel engineered to provide the highest level of flexibility and reliability to support automation and system optimisation requirements. The IOT-500 is based on the Dual Core MTK MT2601 industrial chipset from MediaTek, and features support for the Android v5.1 operating system that combines robust processing power, an open operating system and a flexible hardware configuration.

Power supply range targets rugged networked applications

Diamond Systems has extended its line of Jupiter-MM-5000 high-efficiency, high-precision DC/DC power supply modules. The latest, intelligent members of this rugged power supply family are claimed to offer up to 218W of 5, 12, and 3.3Vdc power in either the compact PC/104 or the PC/104-Plus form factor and an advanced system controller for complete software control of all power supply functions.

IDT expands power portfolio with dual-phase high-performance digital power controller

Integrated Device Technology (IDT) has introduced a high-performance dual-phase digital power controller that it says can help designers optimise, monitor and control high-power supply systems. The second-generation ZSPM1363 digital PWM controller is claimed to deliver high performance and transient response, suiting it for addressing the growing demands in the telecommunications, server, storage, FPGA and infrastructure markets.

Axial metallised polyester and polypropylene film capacitors

Components Bureau has introduced the JFG series of axial lead, metallised polyester and polypropylene film capacitors from jb Capacitors to the UK market. The compact capacitors are said to feature high-temperature resistance, large capacity and good self-healing properties, they are suitable for use in instrument applications and DC and AC circuits of household equipment, as well as the fractional frequency circuit of acoustic systems.

Performance oscilloscope probes tackle smaller, faster designs

Tektronix has introduced the P7700 series of TriMode probes for use with Tektronix performance oscilloscopes. Claimed to offer up to 20GHz bandwidth, the probes are said to ease the challenges designers face when debugging circuits found in the latest mobile and enterprise designs by minimising probe loading, improving access to smaller, more-densely packed test locations and lowering overall cost of ownership.

Libero SoC v11.7 increases security, usability and efficiency for FPGA designs

Microsemi has released version 11.7 of its Libero system-on-chip (SoC), a suite of FPGA design tools used with the company’s FPGA products. The release includes a number of new features to enhance ease-of-use and efficiency for designers, as well as security and evaluation tools, for its RTG4 FPGAs, SmartFusion2 SoC FPGAs and IGLOO2 FPGAs, speeding time to market for designers.

CoolMOS CE package is cost-effective drop-in replacement for DPAK

Infineon Technologies is expanding it CoolMOS CE portfolio with a SOT-223 package. This package is claimed to offer a cost effective alternative to DPAK as well as space savings in some designs. The SOT-223 package without middle pin is said to be compatible with a typical DPAK footprint and can be used as a drop-in replacement for DPAK for designs in LED lighting and mobile charger applications.

Three-phase brushless motor driver with sine wave drive

Toshiba has unveiled the TC78B016FTG, a three-phase brushless motor driver IC that is claimed to achieve high efficiency and minimal noise at a range of rotational speeds without any need for phase adjustment. The TC78B016FTG is optimised for use in the small fan motors found in home appliances and industrial equipment.

Analog Devices claims further advances in digital processing are needed to unlock the full potential of inverters. Looking to meet this need, it unveiled the ADSP-CM41x control processor.

STMicroelectronics’ MDmesh DM2 N-channel Power MOSFET transistors are claimed to achieve greater efficiency in low-voltage power supplies for computers, telecom networks, industrial, and consumer devices.

Industry’s first transistor arrays with DMOS FET source-output driver

Toshiba has launched the TBD62783A series of highly efficient transistor arrays, said to be the industry’s first with a DMOS FET type source-output driver. This series succeeds the TD62783 series of bipolar transistor arrays, claimed to cut power loss by around 40% and is suitable for a range of applications including LED drives.

Low power multimode flyback controller for LED lighting designs

Infineon has launched the IRS2982S, a multimode flyback controller IC for LED applications, claimed to lower component counts and reduce operational and standby power consumption. Designed to meet the performance and efficiency demands of mid-range to high-end LED designs, the IRS2982S is said to meet the needs of interior, outdoor, office and industrial lighting schemes.

Gate drivers provide switching power MOSFETs or IGBTs in half-bridge or full-bridge

Diodes Incorporated has introduced the DGD21xx series of devices that are claimed to provide a simple means of switching power MOSFETs and IGBTs in half- and full-bridge configurations. Target applications include driving motors in white goods, industrial automation systems and battery-operated vehicles such as eBikes and drones. They are also suited for power supplies above 600W and inverters in fuel cell, solar and wind power applications.

Synchronous step-down switching regulator delivers 94% efficiency

Linear Technology has released the LT8641, a 3.5A, 65V input capable synchronous step-down switching regulator. Silent Switcher architecture, combined with spread spectrum frequency modulation is claimed to reduce EMI/EMC emissions by more than 25dB while delivering efficiency as high as 94% with a switching frequency of 2MHz. Its 3 to 65V input voltage range suits it to single or dual cell automotive/transportation and industrial applications.

AMD expands G-Series processor range

AMD has announced its 3rd Generation AMD Embedded G-Series SoCs and the Embedded G-Series LX SoC. The latest offerings are said to expand designers’ ability to scale x86 platforms, starting with the entry-level AMD Embedded G-Series LX SoC. Also announced are two 3rd Generation AMD Embedded G-Series SoCs, codenamed ‘Prairie Falcon’ and ‘Brown Falcon’, which introduce pin compatibility for G-Series processors with the higher performance AMD Embedded R-Series SoC.

Multi-GNSS receiver with embedded security

Alpha Micro has released the u-blox M8 with 3.01 firmware, a multi-GNSS receiver platform with a -167dBm sensitivity, providing a 2m position accuracy. The device has been designed to let OEMs create advanced automotive navigation, drive recorder, emergency call systems, drone positioning, and other such systems that demand accuracy and reliability.

Sundance EMC2-Z7030 SBC integrates Xilinx SDSoC development environment

Sundance Multiprocessor Technology has integrated Xilinx’s SDSoC development environment on to its EMC2-Z7030 single board computer (SBC). Sundance’s EMC2 range is an industrial-grade and deployment-ready SBC that features a Xilinx Zynq SoC with integrated dual-core ARM-A9 CPUs coupled to 1Gbyte of DDR3 memory, four-lanes of PCI-Express and re-programmable logic with Kintex-7 FPGA technology.
