The cPCI-6940 6U CompactPCI processor blade from Adlink Technology is available with up to 16 cores and high performance graphics. Suitable for use in temperatures ranging from -45 to 85°C, the rugged device comes with 16Gbyte of soldered DDR4 memory.

TE Connectivity announces FullAXS Mini connectors

TE Connectivity has announced its FullAXS Mini connector sealing systems for rugged outdoor environments. The connector sealing systems are said to be one of the only products available that enables one-handed, blind installs from many angles. With three sense (visual, audio and tangible) locking feedback, floating connections and a twist angle of 30°, these products claim to be installable by field engineers with all levels of experience in virtually any location.

Rad tolerant 36V instrumentation amplifier

A radiation tolerant 36V instrumentation amplifier (in-amp) featuring an integrated differential A/D converter driver has been introduced by Intersil. The ISL70617SEH differential input, rail-to-rail output device is said to deliver the industry’s highest signal processing performance for low level sensor telemetry data.

Lowest power, cost-effective PIC32 family with core independent peripherals

Microchip Technology has announced the company’s lowest power and most cost-effective family of 32-bit PIC32 microcontrollers (MCUs). The Microchip PIC32MM family is claimed to bridge the gap between the company’s PIC24F XLP and PIC32MX families. The family is said to be the first PIC32 to feature core independent peripherals, designed to offload the CPU for lower power and lower system design. The PIC32MM devices are supported by the Microchip MPLAB Code Configurator (MCC) to help simplify and accelerate designs.

Wide range non-isolated DC/DC converter series extended

TDK has introduced two models to the TDK-Lambda i6A series of step-down, non-isolated DC/DC converters. The i6A4W is claimed to be capable of supplying currents of up to 20A, and the i6AN allows the creation of negative voltages delivering currents up to 8A. Applications include medical, communications, industrial, test & measurement, broadcast and portable equipment.

High-performance GaN-on-SiC power amplifier

Qorvo’s TGA2976-SM gallium nitride (GaN) power amplifier, is now available through Mouser. Developed using Qorvo’s production 0.25µm GaN on silicon carbide (SiC) process, the TGA2976-SM is said to provide excellent wideband performance, power, power added efficiency (PAE), and gain.

Rugged Flash Drive five times faster with USB 3.0

Fischer Connectors has launched the USB 3.0 version of its portable, miniature, lightweight and tough Fischer Rugged Flash Drive. The memory stick has been designed for the safe transportation and storage of sensitive data in harsh environments.

High performance GFET3 integrated power switch range

Silego Technology has released a family of high-performance, GFET3 integrated power switches. Operating from 2.5 to 5.5V supplies, these single-channel GFET3 nFET integrated power switches are designed for all high-side, 0.8 to 5.5V power rail applications.

SimpleLink Wi-Fi modules simplify IoT connectivity

Murata has announced a series of two 2.4GHz IEEE802.11 b/g/n compliant wireless modules based around the TI CC3200 and TI CC3100 SimpleLink chipsets. These miniature modules, measuring 13.2 x 21.45 x 2.65mm are claimed to ease incorporating wireless internet connectivity to a host of embedded applications and especially internet of things (IoT) designs.

Single-chip load switch ICs reduce system power consumption

Toshiba has launched three single-chip load switch ICs, the TCK106AF, TCK107AF and TCK108AF. Integrating high performance chips in an industry-standard SOT-25 package, the ICs combine on-resistance ratings down to 63mO and low typical quiescent currents of 110nA with low loss, low standby current and high performance switching characteristics.

Mil-Spec power factor correction modules for AC/DC supplies

Mil-spec power factor correction modules, developed by SynQor for AC/DC power conversion in military, aerospace and commercial applications, are available from Luso Electronics. Both the MPFC-U-390-QP and MPFC-115-270-QP deliver 350W from a quarter brick package (1.5 x 2.4 x 0.5in) while achieving 95% efficiency at full load.

Accelerating adoption of wireless power in compact, low-power applications

Integrated Device Technology (IDT) has introduced a wireless power reference kit claimed to make integrating wireless charging into compact electronics easy and affordable. The IDT Qi-based transmitter and receiver reference kit targets designs requiring 3W or less, such as smartwatches, headphones, health and fitness trackers and portable medical devices.

PTC introduces latest version of its ThingWorx IoT platform

PTC has released ThingWorx 7, the latest version of its Internet of Things (IoT) platform. Robust, scalable, and easy to use, ThingWorx is said to enable designers to develop and deploy smart, connected IoT solutions. The platform is said to contain one of the most complete sets of integrated IoT-specific development tools and capabilities, making feature-rich solution development simple while accelerating time-to-market.

Innovative modular power solution

ABB has launched a scalable power distribution and protection solution for use in data centre applications. ABB’s MNS-Up solution integrates uninterrupted power supply (UPS) and switchgear technologies into a single, modular system, which is claimed to lower footprint by up to 30%, increase uptime, and reduce maintenance costs.

Two-in-one MOSFETs for load switching in mobile devices

Toshiba has introduced the SSM6L61NU and SSM6N61NU two-in-one MOSFETs.These MOSFETs, are housed in compact SOT-1118 (UDFN6) packages, and are claimed to feature high heat dissipation and low drain-source ON-resistance. These features are said to make them suitable for use as power management switches and DC/DC converters in mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets. The SSM6L61NU and SSM6N61NU can also be used in battery management applications and for load switching in applications with USB Type-C interfaces.

PCB package moves to v16.1

Altium has updated its PCB design platform to version 16.1. The update is said to add features that enhance design documentation and high speed design workflows.

Industry’s first PXI express DMM for more accurate, smarter test systems

National Instruments (NI) has released the NI PXIe-4081 7½-digit high-performance Digital Multimeter (DMM) and 1.8MS/s isolated digitiser. The NI PXIe-4081 is said to offer engineers the flexibility, resolution and isolation needed to tackle challenging applications that require smarter test systems in industries ranging from consumer electronics to aerospace and defence.

HMI Panel for remote monitoring, data acquisition and control

Arbor has released the IOT-500, an HMI panel engineered to provide the highest level of flexibility and reliability to support automation and system optimisation requirements. The IOT-500 is based on the Dual Core MTK MT2601 industrial chipset from MediaTek, and features support for the Android v5.1 operating system that combines robust processing power, an open operating system and a flexible hardware configuration.

Power supply range targets rugged networked applications

Diamond Systems has extended its line of Jupiter-MM-5000 high-efficiency, high-precision DC/DC power supply modules. The latest, intelligent members of this rugged power supply family are claimed to offer up to 218W of 5, 12, and 3.3Vdc power in either the compact PC/104 or the PC/104-Plus form factor and an advanced system controller for complete software control of all power supply functions.

IDT expands power portfolio with dual-phase high-performance digital power controller

Integrated Device Technology (IDT) has introduced a high-performance dual-phase digital power controller that it says can help designers optimise, monitor and control high-power supply systems. The second-generation ZSPM1363 digital PWM controller is claimed to deliver high performance and transient response, suiting it for addressing the growing demands in the telecommunications, server, storage, FPGA and infrastructure markets.
