Introduction to the DRV8837 Motor Driver

Michael Firth, Product Marketing Manager for Texas Instruments Integrated Motor Products, introduces and demos the DRV8837, the World's Smallest 1.8A Brushed DC Motor Driver. The DRV8837 comes in a tiny, 2 x 2mm package, a 75% reduction in size versus the next nearest competitor, enabling smaller, sleeker designs. At 280mO, the RDS(ON) is half that of competition, supporting 1.8A continuous output current with excellent thermal performance. The small package size, low RDS(ON), and ultra-low 35nA sleep current make the DRV8837 ideal for battery-powered or low-voltage motion control applications such as toys, electronic locks, smart meters (gas or water), cameras, and micro-printers.
