Reliability relies on reuse

A well developed design reuse methodology produces high speed, high density single board computers on a timely basis. By Louise Joselyn.

The ability to produce single board computers based on the latest processor technology, as it becomes available, has long been the key strength of Microbus. During the last 20years, the company has finely tuned its own design reuse methodology and developed the extensive engineering knowledge and expertise of its design team.

The company designs and manufactures a broad range of single board computers (sbcs) for embedded pc applications in industrial and military systems. Off the shelf products and custom designed and manufactured boards are all supplied to ISO9001 standards. Long term support for established products is as important as adopting the latest appropriate technology in new designs.

Edward West, technical director at Microbus, is one of the company's founders. He is largely responsible for developing the design methodology, based on full control of the product design process, and in particular, the careful documentation of circuit blocks. Microbus maintains an extensive library of circuit blocks for its sbcs, facilitating design reuse and the support of legacy products.
