A 300dpi electronic paper device with sharp text and images for ePaper document readers is to be developed by E Ink Holdings and Seiko Epson. According to the two companies, it will enable the world's highest resolution ePaper tablets.

Epson has developed a 16bit microcontroller capable of 5120 dot high resolution display. According to the company, the S1C17706 has a four grayscale display that makes it possible to show anti alissed images, and has built in 1MB flash rom that enables it to store large volumes of display contents as well as complex software, without the need for external memory.
