Direct Insight has introduced a tiny system on module based on Freescale's i.MX51 device which features an 800MHz ARM Cortex-A8 core with neon Floating Point Unit, PowerVR graphics engine and hardware implemented video codec with up to 720p resolution support.

Both Windows CE 6.0 and Linux 2.6 are supported.

TRITON-TX51 is a 68 x 26mm 200pin sodimm module operating from a single 3 to 5.5V supply, and provides 128MB mobile ddr400 ram, and 128MB nand Flash, as well as power management and an external real time clock.

The module provides a range of connectivity including usb 2.0 On The Go and Host, with full high speed functionality and backward compatibility. The image processing unit includes a cmos sensor input, 24bit lcd controller and tv out, with a 720p mpeg-4/H264 decoder.

Encode is supported at D1 resolution at 30fps. A 10/100 Ethernet controller is complemented by two high speed sdio/sd card ports and a range of serial and parallel interfaces including I2C, SPI, I2S, 1-Wire, PWM and others. The i.MX51's PowerVR graphics controller enables OpenGL ES 2.0 implementation and accelerates a range of graphics applications and UI tools, including Microsoft's Silverlight and Adobe Flash Lite.

In development the TRITON-TX51 plugs into the StarterKit-5 development system which brings all 200 sodimm pins to headers and provides a range of connectors including Ethernet, sd Card, usb Host and otg and JTAG. The system ships with Windows CE 6.0 or Linux.
