Industrial mini I/O connector

  • Industrial mini I/O connector

The new Industrial Mini I/O connector system from Tyco Electronics features two points of contact to maintain performance and increase reliability in high vibration environments.

The connector, approximately one-fourth the size of a traditional RJ-45 plug, includes a latching system designed to protect the plug from pull-out during high vibration or collision.

"Our new product meets the stringent demands of industrial devices. The rigid latching system and multiple contact points significantly reduce the risk of information loss in high vibration environments," says James Gula, product manager, Tyco Electronics. "The connector system is an excellent replacement for existing RJ-45 technology. It occupies significantly less space while offering increased functionality."

The polarised, wire-to-board interface features two keying options to prevent mismating and consists of eight individual circuits to accommodate I/O signals. Electrical specifications include a current rating of 0.5A and a 30V rating on 0.635mm centre-line spacing. The connector's operating temperature ranges from -40 to 70°C with a durability of 1500 cycles. Product offering includes SMT and through-hole configurations.

The product - suitable for industrial controllers, PLC's, motion control and robotics in the industrial automation market - meets Cat5e requirements when used in Ethernet applications.
