Green power supplies offer up to 86% efficiency

TDK-Lambda has released the ZWS-B series of printed circuit board type ac/dc power supplies which it claims are lighter, more efficient and 30% smaller than its previous ZWS series.

In line with the company's green product initiative, the ZWS-B range complies with the energy saving requirements of the ErP (energy related products) directive and features a <0.5W no load input power.

Available in three models – the ZWS10B (10W), ZWS15B (15W) and ZWS30B (30W) – the series is said to offer an efficiency of up to 86%. An operating temperature range of -10 to 70°C is designed for 100% load operation in a 50°C environment and 70% load at 60°C.

With a universal input of 85 to 265Vac or 120 to 370Vdc, the ZWS-B series is available with a choice of output voltages from 3.3 to 24V which can be adjusted 10% to accommodate non standard system voltages.

"The ZWS-B series adopts a simple circuit design which reduces internal losses and achieves the smaller size," says Martin Southam, director of marketing for TDK-Lambda EMEA. "Boasting features such as wide input range and drastically reduced input power at no load conditions, the ZWS-B brings another addition to our world class portfolio of 'green' power supplies."

TDK says the ZWS-B series is suitable for light industrial equipment and front end equipment for broadcast and communications applications, as well as led signage and test and measurement applications.
