Digital to analogue converters

  • Digital to analogue converters

Microchip has announced a new range of digital to analogue converters, the MCP4801/2, MCP4811/2 (MCP48XX) and MCP4901/2 and MCP4911/2 (MCP49XX)

The new products are single and dual channel 8 and 10bit devices featuring an SPI communication interface, as well as internal and external voltage-reference options.

The MCP48XX range has an internal voltage reference, while the MCP49XX family accepts an external voltage reference. The devices are appropriate for applications in the consumer, industrial and medical markets.

Because the MCP48XX and MCP49XX DACs offer both 8 and 10bit resolution, designers can select the resolution needed for different applications. According to Microchip, having an integrated voltage reference reduces cost and space, while the external pin provides further design flexibility.
