DC/DC converters incorporate ultra wide input for transportation systems

  • DC/DC converters

The new HFBC30 with an output power of up to 33 watt offers an ultra wide input voltage range between 14,4 and 154VDC.

So these converters are suitable for all international on-board network voltages on rolling stock (24V, 36V, 72V and 110V) including the +/- 40% tolerance range requested under EN 50155. Autronic has solved this problem by means of a two-stage converter concept in which a high efficiency degree at the optimized work point is reached by combining booster and single forward converter.

All requirements of EN 50155 with regard to temperature, shock, vibration and other requirements as well as EMC according to EN 50121-3-2 are fulfilled. In addition, the new converters meet the temperature class TX (-40 up to + 85°C) and have a 10 ms hold-up time (class S2). Ideally suitable are the wall-mounted open coated assemblies (100x120x28mm). The heat can be discharged directly to a case via thermal conductive pads.

The converters are equipped with overvoltage and over temperature protection as well as active reverse polarity protection with inrush current limitation. They are open-circuit stable, continuously short-circuit proof and can be switched-off externally (primary and secondary). Options such as thermal warning or input power fail can easily be implemented with the microcontroller. Currently a dual version with 5V/12V is available. Through power sharing the power can be shared on both outputs. Other outputs are available on request.
