500W power supply for military use

  • 500W power supply for military use

Elma Electronic UK has announced a range of high output ruggedised conduction cooled 3U and 6U, 5HP wide pluggable power supplies for use in military and other harsh operational environments.

Applications include road and rail vehicles, aerospace and maritime applications where extremes of temperature, vibration, shock, humidity and EMC integrity are of critical importance. Inputs are user specifiable at 28VDC, 115VAC, 230VAC and 250 to 425VDC, with multiple DC outputs, typically 3.3, 5, 12 and -12V, to suit various bus architectures including VME, cPCI, VXS and VPX. Form factors and connector options are also optimised to match the different bus specifications. The units incorporate custom machined cold plates and seven segment wedgelocks assist with removing heat from the cold plate into the subrack framework.
The power supplies are specified for military applications as follows: altitude to 40,000ft, vibration to 5.6g RMS, shock to 40g, acceleration to 2 to 7g, 6 axis, and humidity to 95% non condensing.
