Three axis accelerometer is 0.75mm high

  • Three axis accelerometer is 0.75mm high

Said to be the world's thinnest three axis digital MEMS accelerometer, the LIS302DLH from STMicroelectronics is just 0.75mm high. Targeted at 16bit applications in space constrained designs, the part shares the 3 x 5mm footprint of other devices in ST's Piccolo MEMS family.

Applications for the device include motion sensing, orientation awareness, free-fall detection and vibration monitoring. Low voltage operation and low power consumption are said to suit it to battery powered products. A power saving shutdown mode is included and the part wakes automatically when motion is detected. Accelerations of up to ±8g are output in the i2c/spi serial format, allowing direct connection to a system processor.
